…when you have two tops waiting to be sandwiched and quilted, one quilt ready for quilting, one quilt ready for binding and, the pieces for two more tops cut and ready to be pieced (one of which isn’t pictured because that would just be embarrassing).
Actually, I’m pretty sure I have at least two others in various stages of completion but I
don’t know where they are am keeping them secret for a future post.
A few months ago I made a cushion from a piece of vintage Star Wars bed sheet. Having never made a cushion cover before, I was pleased with the end result and liked how quickly it came together. Plus, C3PO, Darth Vader and the Death Star now grace our living room – who wouldn’t be happy with that?
Using the Force…for lumbar support.
Since then, I’ve been writing down all kinds of ideas for fun cushion covers and have managed to whip up a few like these bad boys:
Quilted front, zipper back
All you need is Love
Personally, I like a really over stuffed cushion so I use a big insert but because I’ve used a layer of cotton batting and backing fabric for the cushion fronts, a smaller insert would work and still give the cushion good shape. Plus, the covered zipper makes the back look as good as the front – bonus!
I’ve got a long list of ideas for these and I’m thinking I’ll take custom orders on my Etsy shop. What do you think? What would you put on a cushion?
